Francis Bacon School, St Albans was established in the early sixties at a temporary site in Alma Road before moving in 1963 to the purpose built facility in Drakes Drive.

The school no longer exists having been rebranded as the Samuel Ryder Academy in 2012 after a period in "special measures".
